cafe party

So I've been brainstorming for some time about a new blog....truth is, I like something about them...blogs, that is.
I've needed to retreat from the sites I began with.  I've done that and now think I would like to begin a new one..."cafe party".
So, here it is.

christmas tree, 2 years later

A couple of years ago I posted about our Christmas tree.
Sheesh, it's funny to look back.
Last year we didn't put up our tree.  We brought it home from the shed where it hides out but realized we didn't bring the stand home...since our place was the size of a hamster cage we didn't care...who has room for a tree, anyway?  Back in the shed it went.
This year we brought home the fake branches to set up some holiday cheer only to realize we didn't have the stand again.  Hmm.
We looked left and right for a replacement stand but we quickly learned you can't buy a stand just by itself...you have to buy the whole stinkin' tree.  We didn't need or want a second tree so the branches just kinda sat there, spread around the floor...
Till it was propped in our new tree stand...Rob's sleeping bag.
It reminded us of Charlie Brown's tree, wrapped up in Linus' blue blanket.
Our tree is still as tacky as ever, it's really small and it's sitting on top of a lime green table I found on the side of the road while on a walk one morning.  Some of the lights at top don't work because our front door was closed on the strand...don't ask me how that happened.
Still, the tree twinkles and makes the room glow...romantic, I think...we decorated it with ornaments the other night and oohed and ahhed for a couple minutes, then went to bed.
It's funny...now that we have room for that second tree I dreamed about as a little girl...I think this one will do.

zoomed

So...Rob probably doesn't want this posted...but I love the way this lens zooms...I borrowed it for a moment just to test the waters...love it...had to give it back, though.
PS - I was standing pretty far from him...how about that.

synechdoche

Have you seen Synecdoche yet?
Rob and I saw a screening of it back in October with writer and director, Charlie Kauffman, present for a Q&A.
Phenomenal, as all of his films are.
Lovely soundtrack, too...Jon Brion is brilliant.

starting here

So where do you start your posts when you haven't blogged in forever?
I've been out...actually, blogging vigorously at GreenTea Birdseed, but out from my main page...
I guess I will start here...my posts were sporadically inspired anyway.
I love this pic of Rob taken during a recent weekend getaway to Solvang.

well, hello

Well, hello...
I'm back...pretty sure about it...I've missed this little blog...how are you?
